It's day two of NYFW! Woohoo. There are going to be a lot of shows over the weekend, so the posts on Monday might be a little image heavy. Today is heavy on the pretty. So much pretty.
Vena Cava, Peter Som: The neckline on this Vena Cava top is so interesting. It almost looks like a necklace built into the top, which is super convenient. The combination of the soft lines and the quirky patterns makes this ensemble easy to wear, but still high-impact. Peter Som always delivers adorableness. This little pink dress is just too cute. You could transition it from day to night really easily, and the clean lines of the dress work nicely with the bubblegum pink hue.
Trends so far: '70s, sportswear, neutrals, and minimalism.

Peter Som: I'm loving these shoes, and I'm drooling over that orange sweater. Boatnecks are so gorgeous and elegant, but when juxtaposed with the punky sleeve cutouts it takes on a whole new vibe. It's very Upper East Side prepster gone bad, and would be so perfect with slim, dark wash jeans and riding boots for fall. The pop of blue with the belt in this second look is just too cute. The monochromatic prints go well together because of the limited color palette, and then the bright blue belt keeps it all from being flat.
Bensoni, Cushnie et Ochs: I love the shape of this Bensoni dress. The bodice is very athletic/sportsy, and then the skirt is so flouncy and girly. It's a fun study in contrasts, and then the neon yellow takes it to a completely different, '80s inspired place. Pleated leather mini skirts are back, y'all! I loved them a few seasons ago at Balenciaga, and now they're a little less street-style and a little more S&M edgy. I'd really love that black skirt with a slightly sheer, slouchy white v-neck tucked in and a statement necklace.
Jen Kao, Rachel Comey: Jen Kao and Rachel Comey are making the case for neutrals once again. This nude dress from Jen Kao is a fresh take on the typical bandage dress. The skin-toned hue and tight fit should make it too sexy, but the anatomical shaped detailing takes it from skanky to offbeat and interesting instead. I'd love it with a pair of rosey-pink platforms. This white dress reminds me of last season's Christopher Kane (with all the gingham). The bustier top is balanced out nicely by the white, the longer hemline, and voluminous skirt. There's something very Virgin Suicides about it--sexy, but also a little scary.
