When We First Fell in Love: Hunter’s portrayal of baby-craving policewoman Edwina in Raising Arizona (1987) was surprisingly tender. We loved to hear her say “Fee-ance.” Career Highs: Ms. Hunter is brilliant, so she shines in everything she’s in. She won her Academy Award for playing a mute pianist in The Piano, for which she played her own piano pieces. She also taught costar Anna Paquin sign language. She’s a genius.
